I wanted a silent timer for taking breaks from whatever I'm doing on my computer. The good is that it uses a flashing yellow light when done, so there's no audible timer to bother others. BTW, it's also made in Taiwan.The downside is that it doesn't show the seconds if you're counting by 1 hour and more (there's only room for 4 digits, so anything above 1 hr + will not show the seconds until you get below 1 hour). It also doesn't allow you to recall your last timed session. If you can put up with these things though, I think it's a great silent timer, good for those who don't need to keep glancing at their timer to see how much time is left, and just want the flashing light to alert them when time's up. Also has a very long warranty.
