A little disappointed that the used copy was more expensive than the original copy.Packaged perfectly. On time delivery. This is not a bad book - but it's betwixt and between. It's way too complicated for a young child - despite photos of kids in the 8 - 10 year old range, I'd be leery of trying this, even with a lot of adult supervision. Unless the child has exceptional small motor skills, I think the adult would end up having to do most of it, and it could be frustrating for the child. I own a number of bookmaking books for adults, and instructions for sewn bindings are extremely difficult to convey in those books - few do it successfully. In an attempt (I'm guessing) to keep this "simple" the instructions are kept short, and for some reason the visual instructions are either missing, or not specific enough. I have some other books by Gwen Diehn, and they are wonderful, so I bought this sight unseen, hoping that she would have laid it out well enough for an adult to follow - I could, but it would take more time and effort than I am willing to expend. There are better books out there on this subject. And I would try any book binding instructions out before trying them with a child - no matter what the source.Absolutely love this book. It's intended for children, and is certainly written in a way that's accessible for kids. That said, I actually purchased it for myself to use. I'm new to paper arts and exploring pop up book making and this gives some great basic info and simple designs and inspirations. I also purchased two books on pop up book making for adults and they're also great inspiration but the mechanics are a bit sophisticated for where I am right now. This book is a great place to start. I should also mention this covers way more than pop ups and, with the rest of the ideas, they're all adaptable for any age. Just a great and fun book for any age!I am a sucker for toys and books, so this is both and a lot of fun. Good tutorials, photos, and projects. Some of the core ideas that are superb could have had a better / more inspiring outcome. So I'd say that in the hands of the right creative person, these projects could all be amazing. That said, I'm glad I own the book. Maybe I'll post the projects I make from it.As a teacher, this book is a great resource for ideas to show students how to write and product there own work of literature. We used the book as the basis for a "Make a Book Night" sponsored by our PTA. Students and their parents attended a night of book making and story writing choosing from one of the many book ideas presented in the book. It was a great experience for one and all. If you love books, like to write poetry, stories or journals I highly recommend purchasingMaking Books That Fly, Fold, Wrap, Hide, Pop Up, Twist & Turn: Books for Kids to MakeThis book is written for much older children than I had hoped. I work with Kindergartners and first graders. This is way hard for them to read. My kiddos love making books and writing their own stories then making them into a book to celebrate a publishing party!Be sure to take a look inside. I did not. This book is great for beginners or for developing projects with elementary aged children. Many techniques are repeated for a variety of projects that have different objectives. I am more interested in technique. For an elementary teacher or someone facilitating after school or camp activities, I would highly recommend. For someone more interested in learning paper folding techniques, this book falls short. That, the price was right and it was delivered very quickly.Anyone who has ever wanted to write a book may find that making a book first may be the cure to writer's block. After purchasing Making Books for our granddaughters, I found it so full of great ideas and projects that we started immediately making our first book together. It is a little advanced for children younger than 8 years, but with some guidance and encouragement along the way, there are many books to make the experience a creative outlet for children of all ages.It is a pity that there are no descriptions how to make the "old" books. The description of this book suggested that all the books that where named.have an explanation how to make them.I wanted to make a coinbook, but there is only a story and a picture of it in this book.not quite what I expected but okI LIBRI SONO ANCHE DEGLI OGGETTI CHE TI AIUTANO A CONOSCERE ARGOMENTI, TI ACCOMPAGNANO NEI MOMENTI DI SOLITUDINE O DI RIFLESSIONE, APRONO LA TUA MENTE E LA TUA CONOSCENZA.IN QUESTO MANUALE SCOPRIRAI COME CREARRE TU STESSO LIBRI FANTASTICI, DA CONDIVIDERE CON I TUOI COMPAGNI DI SCUOLA E DI GIOCHI.
